paper or plastic?
Category: Recommendations, Green Cleaning
Do you want to be "that" consumer? The one that stands on line and asks for plastic, or paper, instead of hoisting their reusable tote up onto the counter at the grocery store? So many people these days are going green in the most simple way they can - by purchasing durable, reusable bags they can use for their shopping needs. If you're like most, you go food shopping at least once a week. Whether you're picking up a container of milk, or just grabbing a snack you use plastic and paper bags without a second though. They're convenient, and best of all free so why wouldn't' you? Well, for starters using throw-away shopping bags is incredibly wasteful; Tawain did a study that showed the average person uses up to 20 billion bags per year. If you're good at math you can figure that's about 900 per year, per person. Are you thinking no way? Sit down and think about how many times you go food shopping, or pick up a pack of gum and a snapple and you're given a bag, or how the trips to the mall for a pair of jeans, or hand cream. Are visions of shopping bags dancing through your head yet? Many states are going "reusable totes only" and banning paper or plastic in the up-coming years. Purchase a reusable tote and you'll be leaving your footprint in the green movement; they're affordable, durable, and many offer insulation for hot, or cold foods.
